Paid Placement Terms
These terms sit on top of the Terms of Use. They cover paid pins on Hawaiian Yellow Pages. Checking the box on checkout is your agreement. Last updated September 6, 2026.
What you are buying
Featured event ($20). A photo, full details, a page of its own, and a gold tile on Events and the home page until that night is over. It goes live when PayPal confirms. After the date it is kept in past Featured events. Nothing is thrown away.
Featured listing ($120 / 12 months) — coming soon. Not for sale yet. When it opens: a gold tile in the directory and on the home Featured listings row, a fuller page, photo, and more than one badge when those labels are true. Each listing keeps its own twelve-month clock from the day PayPal confirms — not a shared calendar year, not January 1. When that date passes, that listing returns to basic. You may renew before or after it expires; unused time is kept when you renew early. Nothing that was in the book is thrown away.
Island Inspired Partners ($240 basic / $360 Featured) — coming soon. Tiki rooms, tropical venues, themed hotels, lūʻau rooms, and music stores that do not carry an owner badge. Not for sale yet. When it opens, a partner listing is paid — it is not a free row in the book.
Free calendar lines and basic directory rows stay free. Paid placement is optional.
What this is not
Placement is not an endorsement, a promise of visitors, sales, reviews, search rank, or bookings. The book is young. Traffic will be small for a while. We do not sell a position in Google. The site is provided as is, as the Terms of Use say.
Editorial authority
Hawaiian Yellow Pages has final say over what appears on the site. Payment does not override that. We may accept, decline, edit, delay, feature, unfeature, or remove a listing or event if it is inaccurate, misleading, off-mission, spam, harmful, or simply not a fit for the book.
We do not owe an explanation for every editorial decision, but we will try to be straight with people when we can.
Checkout
You must check “I agree to the Paid Placement Terms” before PayPal opens. We store your name, email, the product, the listing or event, and the time you agreed. Payment is processed by PayPal. For a Featured event, paste the listing code in the PayPal note so we can match the order.
Going live
A Featured event goes live when PayPal confirms the $20. Free listings and free events are queued, then manually approved before they go public. Featured listings are not for sale yet. When they open, they will go live when PayPal confirms the $120. We may edit copy for house style without changing your facts.
Your word
By paying, you confirm that the name, date, place, photo, and story are true to the best of your knowledge, that you have the right to use them, and that you are connected to the business, artist, or event. Owner badges are assigned by the book, not claimed as a fact on the form.
When we can take it down
We may unpublish or refuse a pin for a wrong date, a misleading photo, spam, a business that does not belong in this book, or a legal or safety problem. A takedown for those reasons is not a refund by itself.
Refunds
Featured event fees are for that night’s pin. If we never publish it because of a PayPal mismatch or a book error, we will make it right. Low traffic is not a refund. When Featured listings open, $120 will cover 12 months on that listing’s own date; when those months end it becomes a basic listing, not a refund. Write [email protected] for a case-by-case question.
